San Pedro is a very sacred cactus medicine, which is also it’s commonly known as “San Pedro” cactus, as well as “Huachuma” or “Wachuma” in Peru. Botanical name: Echinopsis pachanoi (syn. Trichocereus pachanoi), which naturally contains Mescaline.

Our very high quality San Pedro powder comes directly from lovely local family in the Ancash region of Peru. This is the same region where the ancient temple in Chavin de Huantar depicting San Pedro is located – dated 1300 BC.

It is a fast-growing columnar cactus native to the Andes mountains at 2,000–3,000 m (6,600–9,800 ft) in altitude. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, and it is cultivated in other parts of the world.

Uses for it include traditional medicine and traditional veterinary medicine, and it is widely grown as an ornamental cactus. It has been used for healing and religious divination in the Andes Mountains region for over 3,000 years.

The earliest depiction of the cactus is a carving which shows a mythological being holding the San Pedro. It belongs to the Chavín culture (c. 1400-400 BC) and was found in an old temple at Chavín de Huantar in the northern highlands of Peru, and dates about 1300 BC.

It has a long history of being used in Andean traditional medicine. Archeological studies have found evidence of use going back two thousand years with the Moche culture. Although Roman Catholic church authorities after the Spanish conquest attempted to suppress its use, it failed, as shown by the Christian element in the common name “San Pedro cactus”, which is the Saint Peter cactus. The name is attributed to the belief that just as St Peter holds the keys to heaven, the effects of the cactus allow users “to reach heaven whilst still on earth”.

San Pedro or Huachuma is a very beautiful sacred medicine, which is very profound heart medicine – helps to open the heart chakra, to connect more deeply with your emotions, as well as connect to the higher chakras to connect with the Universe, Great Spirit & Divine Bliss. However, in order to do so, you may need to work on any emotional or psychological issues or traumas in the lower chakras first – childhood traumas, family issues, sexuality issues, etc.

The spirit of the sacred medicine is very loving and deep, who is also a Master Plant Teacher, and can assist with deep healing and transformations on physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual levels. San Pedro-Huachuma can also teach you many profound lessons, if you listen deeply, and then integrate the teachings into your every day life.

It’s also a beautiful medicine to connect deeply with Mother Earth – Pachamama to the beautiful plants, flowers, trees spirits, and Sacred mountain spirits – Apus, etc. It’s quite normal to see or feel the earth breathing, pulsating, vibrating, etc.

For some people, this is not a very visual medicine, but more of a ‘feeling’ medicine, where you connect more to the emotions, vibrations and frequencies, rather then getting intense visuals, like with Ayahuasca or Yopo. Other people, who are more naturally visually orientated or psychically open, may experience more visual imagery.
